Dear Parents,
It has been an interesting week! We now know details regarding this Saturday’s competitions.
Friday – Rehearsal will be from 3:00 to 6:30. At that time students will be fed dinner at concession stand. We will then perform as a pep band for the playoff game for the first half. We will not be performing at halftime. After halftime, the students will place directional signs and cover the vending machines for the next day and then be dismissed and instructed to go home, relax and rest! Saturday will be a long hard day!
Saturday timeline –
Report time is 10:30 am in the band room. (Please make sure students have eaten a full, healthy breakfast!) Encourage students to bring a snack or bag lunch and/or money for food after our performance.
Performance time is 1:25
Finalists will be announced at 3:35
Dinner in bandroom at 4:30 (whether or not we qualify for finals)
If we do not qualify, students will be dismissed after unloading trailer and cleaning band room
We will perform at finals sometime between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM
Full Retreat will take place at 11:00 PM
After retreat we will travel back to East Lake High School. EVERYONE MUST RETURN TO EAST LAKE TO UNLOAD TRAILER!
After we unload the trailer, students will be dismissed.
Ticket prices
Prelims $14.00 (those volunteering will be admitted free!
Finals $20.00 (those driving will receive a wristband to enter)
This will be a long day and a late return! Thank you in advance for your patience!
Thank you to everyone who stepped up and volunteered to work concessions during the day and drive our students in the evening to Tropicana field.
Thank you to Mr. Poth and Mr. Johnson who made Saturday possible. Without their support, FMBC would not have had a home for Class A!

Please for help!!!!
Approximately 25% of the parents have responded and signed up to help on October 22nd for the “Classic Invitational” It is vital that every family be represented. This is our major fundraiser for the year. We have several empty positions that if unfilled will keep us from effectively serving all of the bands and students that will be here on that day.
Please answer the boosters emails with your commitment for this day! We need you!!!!

Parents and friends of the East Lake Marching Band,
I wanted to give you an update on the marching band program and some facts and a big picture timeline. I will send a finer breakdown of the times later this week.
Band members MUST eat a healthy breakfast and lunch at home before reporting to school. The band’s first opportunity to eat will be after our performance!
Report time 12:00
Leave School at 1:30 PM
Perform at 5:00 PM – after performance we will re-load truck and return to stadium to watch the other band’s performances.
Retreat and Awards Ceremony 9:45 PM
Re-load bus and depart approximately 10:30
Return to East Lake 11:15 – 11:30
Rehearsal Schedule for this week:
Tuesday 3:00 – 6:00
Thursday 3:00 – 6:00
Friday 3:00 – 7:00 No game tonight!
We need as many parents, family and other “pro” East Lake people in the audience as possible. Tell everyone you know when and where to be to support these students. We perform early in the day, the crowd will be small. We need YOU!!!!! I assume tickets will be in the $10.00 – $12.00 range per person.
Heads-up for parents!! We will need EVERYONE’s help for our show on October 22nd. This is a huge undertaking and THE major fund-raiser for our band program.
Thank you for your students and for your support!

Parents,
I just wanted to send you a quick update from East Lake band camp 2011!
Music: The students have played through the Opener, Ballad, and Closer. The Opener is 40% memorized and becomes more musical with each rehearsal.
Drill: 50% of the Opener drill is on the field and the balance will be on the field by the end of Saturday’s rehearsal.
The first week of school, our rehearsals will be used to march and play and refine the opener. The following week we will have the Ballad drill on the field. We are on track to have 50% of the show music and 25% of the drill for the first football game.
